The beginning of Monarchs' sophomore era, the new single "Holding On By A Thread" documents the band's expedition into new territory, refining a sound which resonates with each member more profoundly than ever before. The track marks the arrival of Australian powerhouse Zac Mawson, the band's new clean vocalist and keyboardist/orchestral organizer, who debuted on the track. Shortly after the single's release, Monarchs joined forces with bassist Samuel Apkan to produce the band's upcoming album.
OMEN/GAIA was an experimental two-track single release written and produced exclusively by guitarist/vocalist Garret Elliot and drummer Brody Lee after the departure of rhythm guitarist Garret Knowlton. The objective of the release was simple: push boundaries, explore diverse soundscapes, and open new doors for the band and its sound. The releases, both distinctively unique in sound, still retained the standout characteristics of "The Disconnect"-era, expanding upon and perfecting them in preparation for future music.
"The Disconnect" was Monarchs' debut EP, a release which bred viral success and cemented Monarchs' place in the modern metal industry. The EP was written in the fall of 2023, and the band played their first show together on its release in early 2024. Tracks such as "Erased" and "Early Grave" have garnered critical acclaim from internet personalities with millions of followers, all while simultaneously landing on massive streaming charts.
Algorithm was Monarchs' very first release. The beginning of everything. Immediately, it laid the framework for Monarchs' experimental yet refined sound, and set the precedent for the band to build on their sound indefinitely, never settling for "good enough". Algorithm catalyzed the addiction that was writing music, and showed the members of Monarchs that this passion project could eventually turn into a career and a favorite of millions.
